Ella Fitzgerald's 'April in Paris' was a favourite song of our father’s and a soundtrack to Sundays during our childhood, preparing for friends arriving for lunch, all three of us girls enlisted with helping to ensure that the table was laid, drinks readied and the fire lit whilst the scent of a delicious roast lunch cooked by mum wafted from the kitchen.
Today, looking out from the window, springtime looks very beautiful in the English countryside: the acid green of new leaves, soft fluffy blossom and the final splashes of yellow daffodils. Inspiration for the Spring collection is found in the unfolding flowerbeds of the gardens, but also on screen, with timeless, Out of Africa elegance meeting nostalgic British chic, as celebrated in recent tv shows Traitors and The Gentlemen. We look to vintage shirts, frilled collars and mother of pearl details whilst ensuring that all TROY designs must be effortless to wear, easy to look after, and above all, feel special.
We are thrilled to be revealing our new collection with you over the coming weeks, with soft mid layers and elegant wrap coats to compliment the fresh lighter pieces coming through the pipe for summer. This year some brighter colour pops mirroring the hues of an English garden, and our first use of chambray denim pairs back with linens and cotton jackets, suede layers and quilted staples.
The creative process is something I have loved for many years now. Every swatch of fabric is held against cheeks, scratched with fingers and draped over arms, bags of buttons and trims are spilled over tables and pinboards are punctured with layers of colour. Each detail laboured over, mindful of limiting waste before watching with interest as to the colour ways and sizes that are first out the door. My interest in design started as a love of interiors but has flourished with leading TROY as Creative Director. We are very proud of what is in store for TROY in 2024 and hope that you enjoy the pieces that will drop through into the collection over the days ahead.
